House Kholin
The story behind the name
Like the green hive, the House Kholin is also named after a noble house in the fantasy series The Stormlight Archives by Brandon Sanderson. Its queen is named Dalinar Kholin, the highprince of the house and protagonist of the series. The hive is made up of Buckfast bees, which are calm and hardy. Their good tempered nature, which contrasts the vicious VSH bees, make it fitting that they be named after the heros.
House Kholin receives less sunlight than House Sadeas during the summer, causing them to be the less active hive. This was until tragedy struck, and one fall day the hive gathered up most of its honey and relocated to a nearby tree hollow. While the true reason for the hive’s disappearance remains a mystery, the bees are still seen visiting our gardens frequently.
Buckfast bees
Buckfast bees were developed by Brother Adam in 1919 at Buckfast Abby in Devon, England. These bees are unlikely to swarm, are resistant to cold weather, and are excellent at gathering pollen. Additionally, they are known to be frugal with their honey consumption.
The Buckfast bees of House Kholin are on an extended vacation in a large oak tree behind their once-hive. Their previous estate is listed on Zillow for 40 pounds honey. A recent report from a drone states that the queen is “living her best life” up in her tree.
